Sergio Ramos Wants Ballon D’Or
Real Madrid and Spain’s center-back Sergio Ramos admits he will be happy to follow Fabio Cannavaro’s trail to win the Ballon D’Or.
Ex-Juventus and Italian players, Cannavaro is the last defender to win the prestigious award after winning over Gianluigi Buffon and Kaka in 2006.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have won nine of the 10 awards since then, but Ramos believes that competing against both players is not as crazy as imagined.
“Ballon D’Or has always been a rivalry for Messi and Ronaldo,” he told reporters.
“But Cannavaro, my friend gave an example, won it. I do not see that crazy. If they finally give it to me, it will be a historical moment. ”
Kaka is the only player to win the Ballon D’Or since Cannavaro won him 11 years ago besides Messi and Ronaldo.
